About the Authors

Jeff Jay is a professional interventionist, educator and author. His work has appearedJeff Jay on CNN, the Jane Pauley Show, PBS, Forbes Online and professional journals. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, and a certified addictions professional. He has served as president of the Terry McGovern Foundation in Washington, DC, and on the boards of directors for several professional organizations.

Jeff Jay is also the co-author of Love First: A New Approach to Intervention for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, the best-selling Hazelden guidebook on intervention. He has recently co-produced a series of intervention videos that teach families how to do a good sturctured family intervention.

He heads a national private practice that provides intervention and crisis management services. He is is a former clinician with the Hazelden Foundation and Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Center. His personal recovery from addiction dates from October 4, 1981.

Jerry Boriskin, Ph.D.Jerry Boriskin, Ph.D., C.A.S. has moe than twenty-six years of experience as a licensed clinical psychologist, certified addiction specialist, consultant, national lecturer, and treatment program designer.

He is the author of PTSD and Addiction: A Practical Guide for Clinicians and Counselors. A passionate advocate for integrated treatment, his vision anticipated the ongoing movement toward integrated treatment for co-occurring disorders, particularly those involving trauma. He has worked extensively with sexual abuse surviviors and combat veterans.

Dr. Boriskin is cofounder and clinical consultatnt for the Advanced Recovery Center in Delray Beach, Florida, a residential extended care facility for c-occurring psychological disorders and addiction.
